Dengan setting kota Tokyo-3 yang tengah diserang oleh mahluk raksasa yang bernama Angels yang berniat memusnahkan umat manusia. Shinji Ikari, seorang remaja biasa berusia 14 tahun, menerima telepon yang memintanya untuk segera datang ke pusat gerakan NERV, organisasi misterius yang ingin membinasakan Angels dengan menggunakan mesin raksasa yang diberi nama EVA. Tugas Shinji adalah utk menjadi pilot unit EVA 01 dan berkolaborasi dengan pilot unit EVA 00, Ayanami Rei.

Set in the ravaged city of Tokyo-3, where giant creatures called Angels attack it, seeking to eradicate humankind. Shinji Ikari, an ordinary 14-year-old, receives a phone call in which he is told to urgently come to the NERV Headquarters, a mysterious organization that deals with the destruction of the Angels through the use of giant mechs called EVAs. Shinji's objective is to pilot the EVA Unit 01,while teaming up with the EVA Unit 00 pilot, Ayanami Rei.
